A village cat brought a tiny swan to lonely old people: they decided to save the bird

This touching story proves once again how warm and compassionate our little four-legged brothers can be. Most of us would do well to learn a lesson of mercy from them.

There was an old couple in a remote village. The grandparents loved their red-haired, mustachioed pet. Simon the cat had been a full member of the family for 15 years. He often went out and disappeared for long periods of time, but he always came back.

One day Simon became a little sick. Instead of lying on the sofa, he went for a walk. A day or two passed, but the kitten did not appear. The grandmother began to worry about her pet and went to the neighbors to ask who could see him. A girl said she had seen Simon at the lake shore. The grandmother went to the pond, but she did not find her pet there.

A few days passed, and the grandparents longed terribly for the red-haired friend. The grandfather and grandmother lost all hope that their kitten would return.

Early one morning, a meowing sound was heard outside the door. The old people rushed to the door and saw their Simon and a little chick sitting next to him. The grandmother took the baby on her hands and saw that it had an injured wing. The bird was taken to the local veterinarian, who examined the baby and said it was a swan chick. The doctor explained to the grandma how to take care of the bird.

So the baby swan moved into the couple’s house. They built him a house out of a box, and the kitten would often climb in, hug his fluffy friend, and fall asleep together with him.And the baby bird would nestle his beak into the warm belly of his savior.

By spring, the baby had grown noticeably and became a graceful swan. The old people took it to the lake, built a house of boards and brought it food every day. And then the swan disappeared.

Grandmother and grandfather thought it had flown away forever. But after a few days the swan appeared, but not alone. There was a beautiful girl with him. Now they began to live together on the shore of the lake and built a cozy nest. After a while they had little chicks, and the tomcat visited them even more often.

When the weather gets cold, the feathered family moves to warmer climes. The tomcat was sad to see them off on their long journey and was looking forward to meeting them on the shore in the spring.
