The couple spent $55000 on a home for special needs dogs

Meanwhile, such pets respond to kindness with triple love. A New York couple decided to test it out for themselves.

Chris and Marisa Hughes are the owners of the nonprofit Mr. Mo Project, which is dedicated to helping senior and sick dogs. Most recently, their beloved pet, Mo the dog, left the family forever.

The dog was sick for a long time and a lot of money was spent on his treatment. After the death of Mr. Mo, the couple decided to devote their lives to working with animals, which the owners gave up due to the increased cost of care and medication.

Thanks to the spouses’ activities, hundreds of dogs were saved from euthanasia, they raised money for many of them for treatment and found new homes. Chris and Marisa also added 20 special needs dogs to their family. And to give them the best life, they completely renovated the house, spending more than $55,000 on it.

For example, the couple bought a hydrotherapy pool for $30,000, which helps the dogs stay fit. Also, in the house appeared a huge bed for five thousand dollars, on which the owners can sleep with all their pets. The rest of the money was spent on ramps, carpets, steps and other small things to ensure the safety and comfort of new residents.

Living with 20 dogs isn’t easy, Chris says. Days are spent in turmoil and worry.

Each morning, spouses spend at least 45 minutes feeding the pets and giving them necessary medications.

The biggest problem is veterinary clinic bills. Of course, philanthropists help the family, but this money is often not enough. When a dog needed expensive treatment, Chris and Marisa had to take out a $20,000 loan. But they try not to lose heart and cope with difficulties together. “There are always bills, but we’ve learned to stay afloat somehow. Although it’s stressful enough, it’s worth it, ” says Chris.
