The ignorance and cruelty that dog owners show when they simply abandon their animals because they no longer have a use for the dogs is incomprehensible to many.
What many masters fail to see is that they often abandon their dogs without access to shelter or food, exposing them to many dangers as well. In addition, the psychological stress can ensure that the animals suffer long-term damage.
One puppy, later named Samantha, was abandoned in a parking lot and waited for days for her master to return.
Dog does not want to leave parking lot
The young dog howled day and night, showing how much she misses her owners and what loyal and loving creatures dogs are.
Samantha drew the attention of Mary Murphy, who is involved with the animal welfare organization Arrow Dog Rescue, when she heard the howling and crying from the parking lot in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mary knew after so much experience in animal welfare that there was virtually no chance that the cruel owner should come back, but the dog was not easily convinced to leave the parking lot.
Mary took a video of the heartbroken dog howling and sent it to her animal rescue center. According to several local media outlets, Mary spent three days with the pup until she was able to gain her trust.
Howled for 9 days
The dog, who was so scared at first, didn’t let anyone get close to her and was only focused on her master finally returning and taking her home. So Mary decided to bring her own dog along to gain her trust.
Fortunately, perseverance paid off and nine days of howling after she was abandoned, Samantha trusted Mary more and more.
So much so that she was able to collect her and take her to Arrow Dog Rescue Center.
The abandoned dog’s story was shared on social media and it wasn’t long before countless animal lovers offered to adopt her.
The shelter staff took their time to find the perfect new home for Samantha, as the pup was still traumatized from the heartbreaking experience.
Her new masters showed the same patience and affection Mary needed to gain Samantha’s trust.
When a little dog has to cry for nine days straight, it should be clear to everyone that this dog has had her heart broken.
