The dog, who could not hear and see well, kept the missing girl warm all night and brought help in the morning

Three-year-old Aurora was reported missing by her relatives to the police last Friday at 3 pm. According to her relatives, the girl went out of the house alone and disappeared.

Police launched a search operation in the forest area and hills around Sautern Downs in Queensland, but no sign of the girl could be found.

More than a hundred volunteers from the state emergency services and local residents got involved on Saturday morning. It was not until eight o’clock that they managed to find Aurora, who had spent about 15 hours at the top of a densely bushy hill.

The girl’s faint voice was first heard by Aurora’s grandmother, Leisa Bennett. She rushed to the top of the hill, where she saw a dog pointing the way to the girl.

It was Max, a 17-year-old deaf and nearly blind dog.

It turned out that the dog had spent the night next to Aurora, keeping her warm with his body and waiting for help to come to her. Despite the cool and wet weather, the girl was unharmed, except for dehydration and a few scratches.

Aurora smelled strongly of dog because she had slept in Max’s arms all night.

According to the police report, the missing girl was found two kilometers from the house on a private property owned by her family.

Despite the relatively short distance, the search for Aurora proved difficult because the house is located in a mountainous and densely vegetated area. Volunteers had to move very carefully and avoid the steep slopes covered with bushes and moss.

According to the police, the girl was lucky that she was not injured and survived.

Aurora’s family is very grateful to Max for not abandoning the girl and helping to save her. For his heroism, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Police Dog”.
