Scarlett isn’t just a cat, she’s a mom with a capital letter. In 1996, Scarlett and her kittens were trapped in a burning garage. The mother took each baby out of the garage.
The cat almost turned into coal. The fur was burned and the eyes had blisters.
But again and again Scarlett returned to the fire and when she took the last kitten to a safe place, she lost consciousness.
A firefighter found the burned cat. He took Scarlet and her kittens to the animal hospital. Unfortunately, one baby died. But the other four and their mother survived. Soon, the kittens and Scarlett found owners.
The mother was taken in by Karen Wellen, who has been taking care of brave Scarlett for 12 years. The cat died in 2008, she was 13 years old.
