In the Chinese village of Magou, there is a mobile shoe repair shop whose owner is called Manao. The 59-year-old Manao, who suffered from polio as a child, can only get around with a two-wheeled cart.
He doesn’t have the money for a wheelchair, but he designed himself a cart that turned out to be not very comfortable. But Manao has a four-legged friend – the big yellow dog.
The big yellow dog is a two-year-old mongrel who was raised by Manao.
He doesn’t have a real name and the residents call him the big yellow dog because of the color, and Manao just calls out “Hey” and he immediately reaches out to him.
The dog has not received sufficient training to be a service dog, but every morning he accompanies Manao a kilometer from their house to the fair, where he sets up his business. On the way, the dog helps the owner overcome the slope by pushing his makeshift cart.
Someone once suggested Manao to sell the big yellow dog for 500 yuan, but he refused, saying that you can’t sell those you love for money.
