We often do not consider long-term effects that mistreatment can have on innocent animals. In the case of a poor dog found on the streets of South Korea, the trauma of his injuries is far too obvious as he was heard whimpering in his sleep, overwhelmed by both pain and fear.
A team member first heard the dog whimpering and thought that he was surely being mistreated by someone at that moment.
She went out, prepared to find a mean person beating the dog; however, when she discovered the dog, she was amazed to see it whimpering in its sleep. This poor animal was so physically and emotionally hurt from his experiences that he could not rest, even in his sleep.
After examining the dog, members of the rescue team discovered that he had a deep wound on his flank, causing leg cramps and obvious pain.
The dog, for the rescuers now named “Nuri,” is believed to have been stabbed in the stomach by a cruel human who tried to grab him. Although Nuri had managed to escape their grips, he could not escape the effects of the wounds he suffered both physically and psychologically.
They believe that all it takes is the right person to work with him and prove to him that he is safe in a new home. Then Nuri will be able to overcome the abuse, which will give him the opportunity to be a happy, healthy dog who can just enjoy life.
If more people could realize the seriousness of their actions, perhaps they would be less likely to mistreat animals in the first place. You can help raise awareness, about the long-term effect of mistreatment, by inviting your friends to read Nuri’s story – make sure you share it.
