No difference to notice: orphaned kangaroo cub thinks it is a dog

Angela Rodda of Brisbane adopted a one-year-old Eastern Grey seven months ago when he was orphaned, and now takes him on family outings. The charming kangaroo named Trevor loves car rides and enjoys watching the world go by through the window.

A video posted on the Internet shows Trevor enjoying a car ride through Brisbane, sticking his head out the open window to feel the breeze against his snout. The kangaroo loves to sit in arms, but that’s not all the strange behavior that normal kangaroos don’t have.

Trevor, who will grow to be almost two meters tall, lives on a property with sixty cattle, seven horses, three cats and an American Staffordshire terrier. The latter, in all likelihood, taught the kangaroo all this.

Rodda said in an interview that he only jumps into the car when called by name. Kangaroo is not restricted in his movements – he jumps in the house, in the paddock and wherever he can.

“Trevor regularly swims with us, grazes cattle with his horses and participates in all our fishing adventures,” says the owner. But horseback riding is one of his favorite activities. “He loves to ride with his muzzle out when the wind ruffles his fur,” Angela recalls. In the video, you can see that when the baby is particularly interested in something, he stands on his hind legs and looks out the window.

The only problem for the hostess so far is making sure he doesn’t fall out during the ride. In a year or three, however, Trevor will have to say goodbye to this fascinating hobby. Not only will he no longer be able to sit on Angela’s lap, he will barely fit in the back seat of the car. But maybe the kind-hearted owner will buy a bigger car by then.
