It is commonly believed that superheroes wear capes and flashy costumes. But in life, they can be ordinary people. We would like to share with you a story that proves that even the smallest of us can change the world for the better.
It’s about a 9-year-old boy, Paul, an artist. He decided to combine his love of art and helping homeless animals. How. The boy paints beautiful portraits of pets and trades them for food, which he gives to a local animal shelter.
Paul and his mother Kathryn started the project about a year ago. The boy once experienced the loss of a four-legged friend. The whole family grieved over it. But Paul wanted to channel his energy into something good.
He could no longer ignore the problem of homeless animals roaming the city streets. What he did showed that everyone can help in their own way.
Kathryn and Paul created a group on social media called “What Can a Little Volunteer Do?” They want to show that even a little person can make a positive difference in the world around them.
Paul has no help from foundations or organizations. He has no managers or other staff, but he has a big heart and an undeniable talent.
As I said, the boy paints portraits of real pets. The owners place orders and then give away porridge, meat and other products for the animals in exchange for the paintings. Paul is very meticulous in his work. He is interested in how people have come to know their pets. And when he gives orders, he himself meets these animals that he has depicted on the canvases.
This social initiative has already spread to many cities. Animal lovers order portraits of their pets from Paul. His drawings have already gone to Spain, Germany and many other countries.
Paul is the youngest volunteer in the only animal shelter in Arzamas, where more than 100 dogs live. In exchange for paintings, he asks for food, household items and accessories. It all depends on what the shelter needs at the moment.
The boy’s mother confessed:
Our family is proud of his wonderful project. All his days are planned to the minute. He wants to get everything done, but sometimes he doesn’t have enough time.
Paul dreams of becoming an architect and building a large animal shelter in the future. In the meantime, he will use his creativity to help improve the lives of homeless animals.
