Ukrainian dog detects landmines – his tireless efforts are celebrated worldwide

Thanks to his unerring nose, almost 90 explosive devices could be rendered harmless.

At first glance, there is nothing unusual about the cute two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier Patron. You can’t tell by looking at the handsome four-legged friend that he is helping to save human lives.

In a Facebook post by the disaster management center ms “Ukraine Crisis Media Center”, “war dog Patron” is praised as the “soul and mascot” of the Chernihiv bomb disposal team. In addition, we can see a photo of the little four-legged friend with a protective vest made especially for him, standing in front of a landmine.

The major city of Chernihiv on the banks of the Desna River is an important Ukrainian army base, and Patron accompanies the military defusing and disposal team in the search for explosive devices of all kinds.

Patron is a star on the Internet

Mine detection dog Patron has become known and famous through clips on social media. Because he is able to sniff out buried explosive devices, he is an indispensable support for human bomb disposal teams. Animal instinct is a prerequisite for disarming the deadly explosive devices of the Russian invasion before they cost people their health or lives.

With Patron’s help, some 90 explosive devices were discovered

In a video shared on YouTube by The Independent, we can witness Patron jumping into the car with his handler – they are on their way to their dangerous work. We learn that, thanks to Patron, nearly 90 mines and explosive devices have already been found and defused since the war against Ukraine began.

Besides his life-saving job and his special talent, Patron is a normal, playful dog. And he has a rather unusual preference among his peers: the most delicious treat for Patron is cheese.
