The world’s smallest sniffer dog works at the airport to help employees with their work

This dog became the star of the network

Chiki is probably the smallest sniffer dog in the world. He “works” at the Colombian airport, where he sniffs out banned substances and more. Recently, this dog became the star of the network.

This little “employee” was spotted at the Colombian airport. A passenger named Agatha Fornasa took an interest in him – the Chihuahua was wearing a mini police vest and eagerly sniffing suitcases. It turns out that this dog works there as a sniffer dog.

Employees of the duty-free store told the woman that the dog’s name is Chiqui. He has been serving as a sniffer dog at the airport for a long time – and although many may find him funny, Chiki takes his job very seriously and is always focused.

The woman took several photos with Chiki, which quickly spread on the network. Users admire him despite his size – after all, the dog is very responsible and perfectly copes with his tasks. Like other service dogs, he went through several months of training.

Dogs have been companions of humans for centuries. According to official records, the dog was first used to search for criminals in the 1880s. Then, in the early 1900s, the Belgian police started training K9 dogs. Dogs have been in law enforcement service for over 100 years.

All assistance dogs undergo several months of intensive training. Usually, a trainer is assigned to work with the dog to further train it. Sniffer dogs are used on ships, airports, schools and universities, hospitals, prisons, various events – anywhere extra security is needed.

While the dog serves, regular testing and retraining is done for it. Most often, companion dogs belong to breeds such as German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Bloodhound. However, in many cases dogs of other breeds are also trained.
