To save her beloved old cat, the woman gave up her new car and spent 23,000 $

Betsy Boyd from the American city of Baltimore has made friends with her determination to save her beloved 17-year-old cat Stanley from death. Betsy spent six months’ salary for the treatment of her cat

Stanley had no more than three months to live, a veterinarian told Betsy. According to him, the cat suffered from kidney failure and only a kidney transplant could save him. The cat could live another year or two and even up to 20 years after the transplant, the veterinarian assured.

The woman did not want to resign herself to the cat’s illness. In fact, Stanley became her friend during those 17 years. She experienced ups and downs, love and divorce, pregnancy and raising children with him.

“Stanley is like my soul animal,” Betsy says – “He’s a friend who has witnessed my triumphs and trials. Stanley loves me as much as I love him. I want him by my side.”

Betsy adopted Jay, a two-year-old cat from the shelter, who became a kidney donor for Stanley. Under the rules of the clinic where the cat was to be transplanted, the donor animal stays in the home of the “recipient” of the organ.

She added that the patient’s family must agree to accept the donor.

“He’s saving another animal’s life, and we owe it to him to save his life and give him a good home.”
According to the doctor, the donor cats have no side effects and live 14 to 16 years.

The surgery on the two cats, their treatment and recovery cost Betsy 19,000 euros. To pay for the costs, the woman spent all her savings and gave up buying a new car.

Betsy works as a writer and earns $46,000 a year. She has three-year-old twins growing up. However, she has no regrets about the money she spends.

Stanley is on the mend, and kind Jay has become a beloved family member.

“He’s my muse and my best friend,” Betsy says of Stanley. – He purrs here, and I know I did the right thing.”
