Pitbull Maisy talks to her new mother Marisa all the time after adoption from the shelter

When Marisa Elbert adopted pit bull Maisy from a shelter, she didn’t expect to talk to her new dog so much. Maisy’s bark sounds like “woof” and she and Marisa talk every day.

Despite their bad reputation, many people choose to rescue pit bulls from shelters instead of other breeds.

Maisy is a dog who sets a positive example for her breed online. Her former family wanted to breed her, but when it didn’t work out, they decided to put her down.

While they were trying to make plans, Maisy was locked outside alone in a cramped kennel all day and only cared for to feed and try to impregnate her.

Luckily, a friend of Maisy’s former owners heard about her plans and offered to take the dog to a shelter instead. Shortly after she was surrendered, staff uploaded Maisy’s photo to their website of the first time she saw her future mother.

Marisa Elbert was at a low point in her life. Not only had she lost both her parents, but she had also lost her 13-year-old pit bull, who had recently passed away. A thoughtful friend saw Maisy’s picture on social media and showed it to Elbert.

She thought she could use a friend, and it was obvious Maisy needed some love, too.

Elbert hit it off with the immediately, and now they spend their days “talking” to each other. Maisy loves to comment on everything she sees, and her insatiable curiosity about the world around her warms Elbert’s heart every day.

The two share a special friendship that you can’t help but smile as you listen to their conversations.

Elbert reveals that it’s always been that way between them:

“The first day I brought her home, we were walking down the driveway, and I was throwing some balls for her, and she was singing “wooh” on the way up and “wooh” on the way down. She was just so happy. It’s like she knew she was finally home.”

Elbert believes Maisy was meant to find her after losing her parents and deceased pit bull.

She says Maisy completely changes her life and reminds her of the love and support she receives. While Maisy was initially hesitant to accept so much affection, she has grown attached to her new mom and now the two are inseparable.

She was once called ugly by her previous owners, but Elbert couldn’t disagree more. She says her dog’s big head and stocky body are part of her charm, and that all of her features make her look “like a big stuffed animal.”
